This was one of the
first replicas I made, finished around 1981 or so. At the time, I found
only one reference regarding its color, so it was made from CZ that was
too brown. Even now, it is difficult to determine the actual color
without physically viewing the real stone. As an example of this
difficulty, search the internet for “Tiffany diamond”. Note the varied
colors of the pictures. Even though I know my color is wrong, which one
is right?
This stone was
originally modeled using my older method of using tracing paper to tease
out the facet pattern from a photo, then using trigonometry to calculate
the angles used to encapsulate the volume required to attain the proper
weight. Satisfactory for the pre-computer age, but not compared to
today’s modeling and graphics programs! This stone has subsequently been
re-modeled using GemCad and my latest techniques. An updated version
should be cut by August 2008. And this time, of the proper color! |
